The diabetic cat - what's new?
Thursday 24th November 14.00 -15.00
Many interesting developments and debates are taking place in the area of feline diabetes mellitus, instigated particularly by the advent of genetic research, glargine insulin, home blood glucose monitoring devices and protocols, the increasing popularity and perceived benefits of low carbohydrate diets, the desire to induce diabetic remission and internet-based information sources by and for owners. Additionally, more and more owners are also suffering from DM and therefore notice the differences in treatment approaches in human and veterinary diabetology. These developments have lead to different schools of thought on the ideal protocol for managing a diabetic cat. This lecture aims to have a critical look at these trends and solidify the attendee’s knowledge on the latest in feline diabetes mellitus.
