Veterinary Benevolent Fund named as the official charity of the London Vet Show 2011.

The London Vet Show has named the Veterinary Benevolent Fund as the official charity of this year’s show.

Rob Chapman, London Vet Show Event Director said: “We are delighted to be able to support the Veterinary Benevolent Fund (VBF) at this year’s show. The VBF provides invaluable services to the veterinary profession and we hope this will be the start of a very beneficial partnership for both parties.”

The VBF will be running three 45 minute sessions on Thursday 24th November, including a live drama production following the life of a vet in practice, a session on positive psychology and a Q&A session chaired by Vet Life chairman Nick Short, who is also the VBF Director directing the Vetlife initiatives.

Nick commented: "We are so grateful that the London Vet Show has helped us to host an event this year to relaunch the Vetlife website.  We were lucky enough to find in Dr Adrian Longstaffe a veterinary surgeon who is also a psychotherapist and expert in e-learning.  He has rewritten the content of the site for us and the design and technical specifications have been much improved.  All we need now is for the profession to get behind the initiative and spread the word!"

Lydia Brown MBE, President of the Veterinary Benevolent Fund (VBF)said: "We are thrilled that the London Vet Show has chosen to support us.  The charity is adapting to the changing needs of the profession and I think the LVS and our Vetlife website, which will be relaunched at this year's show, are an excellent fit in that both of them are current, relevant to the day to day lives of those in the veterinary profession and dynamic.  We look forward to an ongoing relationship with LVS for many years to come."

Notes to editors
The London Vet Show, organised by CloserStill Media Healthcare Ltd, was launched in 2009 and in 2010 was honoured with the prestigious Best Launch Event award by the Association of Event Organisers (AEO) where it was praised for the innovative concept and superb event execution.

VBF, established for over a hundred years, is a charity run by volunteers from the veterinary profession to support colleagues in difficulty and to promote well-being.
