The BVA and the London Vet Show team up to launch first Vet Careers Fair
The British Veterinary Association (BVA) and The London Vet Show have teamed up to make The London Vet Show even bigger and better for 2012 with new content and exclusive access and rates for BVA members.
The partnership was announced at The London Vet Show 2011 – Europe’s largest veterinary exhibition – held at Olympia in London on 24-25 November. An exciting development for 2012 will be the launch of the BVA Careers Fair comprising lecture streams, an exhibition and one-to-one expert advice for BVA members at every stage of their careers.
The announcement comes as the London Vet Show 2011 saw attendance surge by around 40% to more than 3,000 delegates and with a record number of exhibitors from more than 300 companies.
The BVA Careers Fair is the first of its kind in the veterinary profession and is targeted at vets - from final year students about to embark on their careers to established vet professionals considering a change in direction or career advancement. BVA members will gain exclusive access to the Careers Fair within The London Vet Show and will benefit from an additional 10% off the lowest advertised delegate rate.
The BVA Careers Fair will complement the extensive clinical and management lecture streams and exhibition offered at The London Vet Show. The Fair will comprise a special exhibitor zone on the exhibition floor and special BVA Careers Fair theatre. In addition, the BVA will be injecting some political content into the programme to enhance delegates’ awareness and interest in the big picture issues affecting the profession.
Commenting, Carl Padgett, President of the BVA, said: “The BVA is continually expanding our member benefits and we are very excited to announce our partnership with The London Vet Show and the launch of the BVA Careers Fair. It’s a win-win offer for BVA members who will get 10% off the lowest advertised delegate rate for the whole Show and exclusive access to the Careers Fair.”
Rob Chapman, The London Vet Show Event Director, said: “The London Vet Show gets bigger and better every year and we are delighted to work with the BVA to launch the Careers Fair – the first of its kind in the veterinary profession. BVA members attending this year’s show can register now for 2012 for just £99 at the 2011 show and benefit from our excellent clinical and non-clinical streams, extensive exhibition, and one-to-one careers advice.”
Dr Jill Maddison, Director of Professional Development at the Royal Veterinary College, who coordinates the LVS clinical CPD programme, added: “I am thrilled that LVS has partnered with BVA.The Careers Fair will provide a unique opportunity for young and not so young BVA members to combine a great CPD experience with professional support and career advice – a winning combination.”
