Common emergencies – tips and tricks for survival

Emergencies may present to veterinary practices at any time of the day and night. Regardless of the underlying problem, a methodical approach to initial patient examination focussing on the major body systems will allow appropriate prioritisation of a patient’s problems. A logical empirical stabilisation plan can then be implemented giving the patient the best chance of survival.
