Peering through the shadows: How to look at radiographs Ability to correctly interpret radiographs does not depend on having good eyesight, it depends on knowledge of radiographic anatomy and knowing what to look for. Hence there are advantages in teaching students to interrogate a radiograph based on what they may know about the patient or their initial observations of the radiograph, to use the answers to these questions as a basis for forming hypotheses that influence the direction of further searches for information, and to try to build up an understanding of what diagnosis is most likely based on features that fit together.
