Clinical Programme

Technology overkill? When do we really need advanced imaging techniques? Advanced imaging modalities, such as ultrasonography, computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging, are becoming more widely available for veterinary patients. This is good because it increases choice for veterinarians managing patients, but it can be problematical if there is a lack of expertise in making or interpreting the images, or if use of these modalities increases veterinary fees without a corresponding benefit to the patient. It is important to select imaging studies most likely to impact on patient management.
